Thankfully, few of you will hopefully ever know what it means for your body to stop working properly. For it to cease doing what it should do automatically, such as digest food, or absorb nutrients; use the elixirs you drink to nourish and cleanse your body, having muscles that don't burn as you walk up the stairs or lose function unless you coax them with massage back into some feigned stimulation until they seize up again.
This is what cachexia and sarcopenia, malnourishment and being stricken with a chronic and incurable illness does to a body, and let me tell you first hand: it ain't pretty.
It's distressing. It's infuriating. It's exhausting.
But something else that it is?...
It's strengthening. It's patient driving. It makes you learn more, fight more, breathe deeper, listen clearer, hope more, push more... it changes you. It educates you on your body in ways no other person will ever experience. It forces you to be practice patience, self love and self care. And as much as I despise my circumstances: it's this ongoing battle that is never to be won, that makes me the ferocious woman I am.
One thing I have learnt works most for my body which anyone can adopt into their life, poorly or not, is the art of skincare, self massage and scent. Seems so simple, but when you establish the aromas that calm you, the textures that soothe you and the products that woo you... it's amazing what they can do. Whether it is to boost circulation, to cool down your body temperature, to ease aches and pains or to just smell nice: I urge you to follow in my footsteps and go on a beauty hunt. For no one, my dear, but yourself.
This cream is exceptionally magic, that's for sure! Both in it's minimalist ingredients, it's ancestory, texture and benefits. The lack of ingredients may surprise you in regards to it's heavy price tag, each pot being a steep £30... but sometimes, particularly in the modern world of beauty: to get the best, you need less. Less chemicals. Less dyes. Less perfumes. Just... Less.
Honey, Beeswax, Olive Oil, Royal Jelly, Bee Pollen and Bee Propolis
That's it. N O T H I N G else goes into this pot of pleasure. And with a fan base extending from the likes of Rihanna and Gwneyth Paltrow, Kim Kardashian and, yes, Bucci 💁🏻♀️... it's easy to be tempted by the magic of this Egyptian derived formula.
Why I Love it:
The smell is raw and natural... comely and abundant with notes of honey. Scent aside, the texture is unlike anything else. I would compare it to a more luxurious vaseline, for those unfamiliar with the product. An oozier, more delectable consistency that melts into the skin like honey butter.
How I Use It:
Get yourself naked, baby! In full birthday suit mode, start with a generous (go onnn!) amount on the centre of your tummy, eyes closed, and totally absorbing the sensation. Work your way across your body with your hands, not daning to dip into the pot for more until it's fully melted across your skin. I use it from my solar plexus (tummy), make my way to my arms and neck; shoulder blades, lower back, then finish with my legs. In long sweeping motions and small circular ones, you'll open your eyes feeling like the Queen Bee 🐝 herself 👑
