My Lockdown Essentials

The sky above us in London is currently cloudless and turquoise blue; the air crisp and fresh, with a kiss of warmth from a sun becoming more golden by the day… But there is a rolling avalanche of steely grey clouds looming and brewing that we cannot ignore: COVID19.

The fashion and beauty industry are on lockdown and dwindling in sales and operations. Italy, the king of couture and luxury fashion, has shut down all production factories until April 3rd - which is undoubtedly going to be extended.

We’re running around like headless, and footless, chickens. But I implore to you all… Stay calm.

Use this time to, instead of fretting and faffing, flapping and flipping out… to focus on yourself. Hone in on your talents, pamper yourself, refresh and restart your physical and mental health. Research, educate, reconnect, replenish and hit refresh. How can I do that? You must be thinking… my dears, do that with the power of products - well, the ones you can get your hands on. #AntiHoarding

Here are my essential beauty doodads whilst on lockdown. The things I need in my life, period. The elements of my beauty shelf that are staple and that keep my body, mind and emotions in check.

I hope they can do the same for you and create a glow…

L’Oreal Truffle cream: Despite only being 23, can you ever really too young to nourish your skin from a cellular level? No, I say. This intensely rich cream by L’Oreal is infused with black truffle, which is renowned for it’s ability to remain intact and undamaged for up to 200 days in the wild. With this powerhouse of regenerating properties, converted into a face cream, your skin only becomes stronger and more supple by each use. It also has fermented black tea in it, which is known as the ‘tea of immortality’ in… cough cough, Chinese culture. Bats and COVID19 aside, traditional Chinese medicine is exceptional, so don’t let current affairs put you off. Please.

LUSH Ocean salt scrub:

I’m usually a vanilla girl… but there’s something about Ocean Salt that calls to me, much like the ocean! Refreshing, exfoliating, hydrating...what doesn't this scrub do? It’s a cult classic scrub, abundant with a mineral-rich mix of fine and coarse sea salt for serious exfoliation, balanced with coconut oil and avocado butter to soften the skin. That punchy citrus scent? It comes from lime oil as well as limes extracted in vodka to brighten and tone. Just one scrub with this beauty and you'll see why it's so popular! Nasdrovya!

LUSH cupcake face mask

If you suffer from oily or troubled skin, slather it in this mattifying cocoa concoction. With spearmint oil to cool, vanilla absolute to calm redness and Rhassoul mud to deeply cleanse, this is one sweet savior. Smothering yourself in chocolate for clearer skin? Yes m’am.

Dove summer revived body cream: I’m not a tan-o-holic, but your girl loves a glow. Straight out of a warm bath after using my LUSH ocean salt scrub, I gently rub this lovely lotion into my skin - which does not have that odd tan-smell that many of us know so well. It’s a gentle hue of golden bronze, whilst also embodying the cell moisturising benefits of natural seed oils to actually nourish your skin in the process of using it too.

J’Adore by Dior: J’adore eau de parfum is the greatest women's floral fragrance by Dior. A bold statement, but a true one. In this bouquet we’ve got ylang-ylang , Damascus Rose from Turkey blended with a rare duo of Jasmine Grandiflorum from Grasse and Indian Sambac Jasmine. It’s… voluptuous and sensual, but not overbearing…effortlessly seductive while boasting an original signature, the perfume is a staple for me - and for many women.

LEISURE & WORK iPhone + MacBook Pro:

Need.I say more? Without technology, we’re hopeless! Whether I’m checking emails, playing music, reading articles, discovering film, writing or creating art and design projects, Apple has me covered.
