I personally detest talking about COVID-19. as serious as the situation is, it’s draining me of energy, without even doing anything. The radio has journalists jiggying us all to be more worried than necessary, the newspaper has pompous politicians pedantically patronising us; even shop assistants now aid in setting a subdued aura whilst we push our trolleys in a state of drudgery. It makes me want to go back to bed... which, in a roundabout sort of way, we can. Queue the #pajamapower trend.
The pajama trend is nothing new. For a while now, especially in the sparkling season of Pimm’s and picnics, women adopt the silken chemise or the sultry lace trimmed robe as outerwear. And to be honest, it’s my favourite trend.
I believe in a mathematical formula I like to call C3: comfort > confidence > chicness. If you’re not comfortable, you won’t be confident and you wont be chic. Simple as.
Finding comfort in discomfort is no easy task. But believe me when I tell you that by pushing - without choice - through this surreal, zombie contagion catastrophe... we’re going to be okay. And in the meanwhile, until the golden key freeing all from lockdown is twisted and turned, we can make things that little bit easier by physically and fashionably being in a state of comfort, even if mentally you haven’t quite mastered it yet.
