Red is a bold colour with many a connotation and characterisation attached to it. From the sultry demeanour of Jessica Rabbit, to the 90s supermodel vibes of Linda Evangelista; the symbolic colour of luck across the entire nation of China, and a world renowned shade meaning STOP 🛑 WARNING ⛔️ DANGER ⚠️ ...adopting red as a go to colour for fashion, art, home and beauty is a statement that cannot be ignored.
Let's explore in a true laitmylk manner how we can hitch red under our arms and own it, rather than have it own us - with a little bit of help from Schwarzkopf ♥️❣️🍒🛑💖💕🌸
I have been a red head once in my life before. And the story behind it is not particularly pretty. Newly adorning a pixie cut, I decided to tamper with nature and see what lil Bucci would look like as a blonde, with everyone telling me how much I looked like Tinkerbell anyway (big booty and little? sure, I'll take the compliment).
Welllllll.... fast forward from a home bleach kit and panic on the bathroom dancefloor by an hour and I was more Lady Gaga Telephone yellow than the platinum princess I was aiming for.
Now, take note all you home bleachers out there: If you decide to bleach at home and don't like it... for the actual love of a donut, do NOT try to dye it brown or black straight away. A truly far from magical chemical reaction takes place on the hair follicle turning you either a lovely day glow carrot orange, or an alien adbuction neon green.
You have to restore pigment with the boldest and most medium toned colour in the spectrum: RED
Terrified, but desperate to be anything but Homer Simpson, I took the plunge and voila...
Out came a Jessica Rabbit, Rihanna LOUD era Darcy Bucci - and hot damn did I love it.
Since however, I have not delved into the bleachy world. And my latest attempt at moulin rouge hair is more of a blackened cherry, serving total punk rock vibes. 🔥
The hair dye I use whether going REAL RED, MANGO TWIST, CYBER PURPLE, COSMIC BLUE or BITTERSWEET CHOCOLATE... (and more!) is the infamous Pigment King: Schwarzkopf

After all: it's JUST hair!
It WILL fade.
It DOES grow.
And you DO only live ONCE.
